Musoma. Chadema cadre who has failed to secure
the party’s endorsement to vie for the Musoma Urban parliamentary seat
has filed a case in the Musoma District Court challenging his party,
seeking for an injunction to block intra-party elections.
Mr
Eliud Esseko, who picked up his nomination form on July 3, this year,
decided to take the legal route after receiving the letter from his
party accusing him of misconduct, accusations which he denied.
He
was accused of bribing Chadema members as well as starting campaign
before the right time and that he stolen his party’s documents and hand
them to CCM.
He said that he was only given one day to respond.
Though
the court granted him a temporary injunction, barring the party from
conducting its internal election, Chadema allegedly defied the order and
went on with the scheduled meeting on July 28, axing him from the race.
Mr
Esseko said that he was not satisfied with the way that opinion polls
were conducted within the party and that the situation shows that
leaders favoured the outgoing MP, Mr Vincent Nyerere.
“Before
they removed my name from the list, they never given me any official
document showing how we are going to conduct the nomination, instead I
used to get information from WhatsApp groups,” he lamented.
The
Musoma municipal mayor Mr Alex Kisurura said that he had directions
from Chadema headquarters on the issue but since the matter was brought
before court he would not comment anything as they were waiting for
court decision.
On Wednesday Chadema conducted opinion
polls in which Mr Nyerere emerged the winner. He was the only contestant
after Mr Esseko was dropped.
